Job summary
To work with the Head of Financial Reporting and other members of the Financial Reporting Team in ensuring all financial accounting processes are completed accurately and within the deadlines set out in the Finance Accounts Timetable.
Main duties of the job
To contribute to the Trust's monthly and year end reporting processes, working within fixed deadlines to enable monthly/annual returns to be completed on time.
To be responsible for the reconciliation of all allocated balance sheet control accounts, and the clearing of any outstanding reconciling items, within specific deadlines; and to maintain appropriate working papers each month.
To assist in the preparation and review of the VAT returns for the Trust and its subsidiaries. Where necessary working with the Trust's VAT advisors and the wider finance department to ensure timely and accurate recovery and payment of VAT.
To be a point of contact for the wider finance team for VAT matters, providing advice and support. Analysing complex data from the Trust's VAT advisors to identify trends.
Support the Head of Financial Reporting in providing advice on all aspects of the Financial Reporting Team's work
Ensure that the Trust's key financial controls are understood and maintained by all staff and reviewed regularly.
Provide support the Head of Financial Reporting in completing the quarterly Agreement of Balances exercise
Provide support to junior members of the Financial Reporting Team, including trainees.
Provide cross cover for other members of the Financial Reporting team as needed.
