Job summary

The Royal Free is offering an opportunity for excellent individuals to join our critical care team. We are undergoing an exciting period of expansion and development and we are looking for motivated colleagues to help us shape our future.

We are looking for applicants who have trained in either Intensive Care Medicine, or have dual qualifications in ICM alongside a complementary speciality and who have experience in the delivery of Liver Critical Care. We will support you to advance our expanding services, deliver research, innovate and develop your own career interests.

Main duties of the job

The post is full time, 10 PAs per week, with the clinical role either entirely on the ICU, or divided between critical care and the post holder's other specialty. The post holder would be expected to either have their on-call commitments entirely on critical care.

This post holder will be expected to contribute to the growth and development of the liver critical care service, working with medical and nursing colleagues to promote excellent clinical care, education and research.

An additional role or contribution to our department would be seen as a major advantage. This could take the form of an interest and role in an aspect of hepatology, research, education, echocardiography, anaesthesia, or another similar complementary role.

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • On the GMC Specialist Register in appropriate speciality at the time of interview or within 6 months (at interview) of expected date of CCT specialty NB: Non-UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register and Specialist Register by date of interview.
  • Higher qualification in Critical Care Medicine (FFICM or European Diploma in ICM)
  • Advance level Critical Care training (or equivalent)
  • FRCA, MRCP, MCEM (or equivalent training/exam)

Desirable

  • Appropriate higher degree MD, PhD or equivalent
  • Provider status in ALS, ATLS (or equivalent) or APLS (or equivalent)
  • FUSIC qualification
  • BSE Level 1 TTE

Experience

  • Able to work without supervision and make appropriate clinical decisions
  • Ability and willingness to take full responsibility for clinical care of patients of any acuity.
