Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Orthopaedic Therapy Team as a Band 7 Team Lead Physiotherapist in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Barnet Hospital, within the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
The Orthopaedic team is made up of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Support Workers. As a senior member of the team you will assess and treat patients with a variety of orthopaedic injuries, including neck of femur fractures, upper limb, lower limb and spinal injuries, working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient care throughout the patient journey. You will also help to rehabilitate patients who are repatriated from the major trauma centres following major trauma and plan their discharge onto further services.
As a Team Lead Therapist you will lead a smaller sub-team to provide excellent evidence-based care, following national guidelines, to patients who have sustained neck of femur fractures. You will also work alongside the other team leads and the Clinical Lead to deliver a wider safe, effective and patient-centred orthopaedic service.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will be expected to manage their own clinical caseload effectively, by utilising a high level of clinical reasoning, organisational and prioritisation skills. They must be flexible to fluctuating priorities, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be able to demonstrate efficient and effective discharge planning. They will need to apply excellent communication skills with MDT colleagues, including attending daily board rounds, MDT and other meetings. Successful candidates will be expected to have specialist knowledge in the management of orthopaedic patients and be dedicated to continuous professional development within this specialist area.
You will be required to teach, supervise and appraise staff and students, whilst being supported by your peers and Clinical Lead. You will also be expected to have an active role in developing the orthopaedic service across site.
This is a permanent, full time (37.5 hour) position. The post holder will also be required to work bank holidays and weekends, in line with the department's 7-day working policy.
