Job summary
The post is a permanent position, working as a Senior member of Pharmacy Procurement team.
The Pharmacy Procurement team is responsible for maximising drug savings for the trust , which has an expenditure of over 100 million pounds on drugs every year.
The post holder will be responsible for the matching of invoices for goods received by the pharmacy, and for liaising with suppliers with regard to any discrepancies found. Assist with procurement issues, deal with contract changes, maintenance of the contract database, and costs to customers (including cross charging companies if they fail to supply contract lines), according to key performance indicators, to analyse results and make improvements in stock management.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the leadership management and development of all staff delivering pharmacy procurement services by providing a specialist service and being responsible for the daily management of the Pharmacy Buying office. The post holder will ensure the timely, efficient procurement of Trust's pharmaceutical requirement, maximising the use of the JAC computer system. Excellent communication is required between the post holder and colleagues in other sections of the department, the Trust and with representatives of the Pharmaceutical Industry to provide an integrated service, providing day-to day support to the pharmacy procurement function. This will include: sourcing of medicines, managing patient access schemes and delivery of procurement quipp financial savings.
Should the service require support in homecare section the post holder will be expected to work in other areas to support the overall pharmacy procurement service set in accordance with objectives set by the Head and deputy of pharmacy procurement

- Good basic education including Mathematics and English (GCSE standard)
- NVQ Pharmacy level 3 plus an accredited underpinning knowledge (or BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent)
Experience
Essential
- Developed specialist knowledge of procurement and sourcing, information and relevant understanding of unlicensed services;
- 3+ years relevant specialist experience of pharmacy procurement processes, or have gained a thorough sufficient knowledge of pharmacy procurement work activities;
- Good understanding of pharmacy procurement service provision, including patient access schemes etc.
- Previous experience in a hospital medicines procurement role
- Previous experience of using JAC
- Previous experience of using powergate and medecator
