Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Respiratory Physiologist to join our friendly multi-disciplinary team at Royal Free Hospital, London. The Respiratory department undertakes a wide range of respiratory investigations and provides specialist management, for patients from a variety of specialities and has eight dedicated Respiratory Consultant Physicians.
Our department has a pleasant and spacious working environment with recently updated new equipment for all tests. We are a welcoming and friendly small team and would like to invite a suitably qualified individual to come and join us.
Main duties of the job
The Chief Respiratory Physiologist will be required:
- Responsible for overseeing the day to day running of diagnostic services and staff cover within the department
- Manage Band 4, 5 and 6 physiologists, and support as a training officer for the STP Students.
- Ensures that physiologists are following protocols correctly and are providing timely and accurate analysis.
- Lead and develop the Lung function service and train staff in respiratory diagnostic testing.
- Ensure departmental SOP's and Policies and Procedures are kept up to date and devise new ones for new equipment and/or departmental processes.
- Ensures that physiologists are following protocols correctly and are providing timely and accurate analysis.
- Is the first point of call for reporting all technical faults and equipment malfunction
- Support with IQIPS accreditation

Ideally you will be working as a Clinical Physiologist at band 7 or band 6 with significant experience working in a Lung Function Laboratory. You should hold a BSc in Respiratory Clinical Physiology, Biological Sciences or an equivalent qualification. The possession of relevant professional qualifications (ARTP part 1 and 2) is essential. You should be RCCP registered or at least be eligible and working towards registration.
