Job summary

A great opportunity has arisen for a medical photographer / photographer to join our busy Medical Photography team at the Royal Free Hospital to help develop our expanding Teledermatology service.The Medical Photographer (Dermatology) are a new initiative; a full time, one-year fixed term contract with the successful candidates supporting the Royal Free's Dermatology service across multiple Trust sites.The group offers a wealth of experience in all aspects of medical photography with a clear focus on excellence, you would be expected to hold a clinical photography qualification and previous experience in healthcare would be an advantage; however, applicants with a degree in photography and working as a professional photographer are encouraged to apply.

Support and training will be provided together with working under supervision, prior to the photographer undertaking their duties independently, which will involve using specialist photographic equipment and managing their daily workload.The post involves communicating effectively with medical photography staff, patients and healthcare professionals where you will be helping to provide the best clinical care for our Dermatology patients.This is a great opportunity for you to develop your photography skills and if undertaking medical photography for the first time, this could be the start of a new career.

Main duties of the job

Undertake 2D clinical photography using specialist equipment for diagnosis, case records, treatment planning, education, research and publication.

Utilise specialist clinical photography techniques and skills including, dermatoscopy, cross polarisation and UV photography.

Interpretation of diagnostic and anatomical terminology (i.e. dermatology) and working closely with clinical staff for clarification of photographic requirements.

Manage dermatology photographic clinics and be responsible for the safe conduct of the patient during their appointment, together with explaining the photographic procedure and confirming consent.

Follow national guidelines for audit purposes and working to protocols to enable accurate recording of all stages of treatment and assessment.

Provide post-production for all photography using professional editing software (Adobe) following standardised workflow protocols.

Using the clinical image database systems (WABA MIM / EPR) for management of and online delivery of images.

Observing Trust policies and procedures.
