Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to provide clinical and operational leadership for the Acute Medicine & Elderly/Frailty SLT and Therapy teams at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be joining an innovative team of 10.8 Speech-Language Therapists on this site and a larger team across all three of our hospital sites. This will include working in collaboration with the other Clinical Lead SLTs in neurosciences, critical care, head and neck, voice and acute care. The post holder will work throughout the hospital and provide clinical and professional expertise and leadership within the Acute Medicine, Emergency, and Elderly Care (AMEDEC) division.

Main duties of the job

You will also work alongside a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist within elderly/frailty care and be jointly responsible for the leadership and management of the Allied Health Professional (AHP) team within this division. This will include being responsible for the line management of multidisciplinary therapy team members, clinical supervision of SLTs and operational management of the team. The post holder will lead on service development and evaluation, local and national audits and research.We are looking for a knowledgeable and skilled Speech and Language Therapist with extensive experience of working within acute care and with people with issues related to frailty, ageing and complex medical management. You will have advanced skills in instrumental assessment including FEES (fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing) and Videofluoroscopy. Applicants will also demonstrate specialist expertise regarding the application of current evidenced based practice treatment approaches. Strong leadership skills, the ability to facilitate change and development, and a positive and flexible approach are essential.
