Job summary
The department of Surgery are looking for a Clinical Fellow - General Surgery to join us on a fixted term, full time basis.
This is a post that is ideally suited to a candidate who is at least post core surgical training (or equivalent) or ideally more senior looking to obtain further complex operative experience, prior to taking up a consultant post.
There are three jobs available with potential to rotate through the departments.
Your duties will be arranged with the Consultant to whom you are responsible, who has final medical responsibility for allpatients under his/her care. Any clinical problems beyond your experience or problems causing anxiety should be referred to the Consultant or a more senior member of your team
Main duties of the job
Performing Operations and Assisting in Theatres
Exposure to endoscopy
Seeing patients in Out Patient Clinics including the surgical emergency clinic
Responsibility for continuity of care for patients on the ward
Examining and making management plans with on call consultant of all admissions when on duty
Attending and leading ward rounds
It is the doctor's responsibility to ensure that they take natural breaks as required under New Deal and EWTD and to keep to rostered hours of work
Participation in audit/research
Participation in teaching both in hospital and with ARU medical schoolOn-Call and leave arrangementsThe expected on call rota will be 1 in 14 shift system
