*The successful post holder will be required to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Health Carewithin two years of starting the role*

This is a lovely and rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with babies and supporting families. As a Newborn Hearing Screener, you'll be part of the maternity team, carrying out hearing checks to help identify any potential hearing issues early on. You'll talk with parents, explain the process clearly, gain consent, and make sure results are recorded accurately.

The role needs someone who's calm, caring, and pays attention to detail. You'll work on the postnatal ward and in outpatient clinics, supported by a friendly team that's dedicated to giving babies the best start and families a positive experience.

Main duties of the job

If you're caring, reliable, and love working with babies and families, this could be the perfect role for you. As a Newborn Hearing Screener, you'll be part of a friendly, supportive team helping to give every baby the best possible start in life.

You'll carry out hearing checks for newborns on the postnatal ward, neonatal unit, and in outpatient clinics, following national standards and local guidelines. You'll talk with parents, explain the screening process clearly, gain consent, and record results accurately and sensitively.

Working closely with the maternity and audiology teams, you'll help make sure every baby is screened within the national timeframe. Above all, you'll bring a calm, kind, and reassuring presence to families at a very special time in their lives.
