Job summary
We are looking for motivated, experienced, and dynamic individual to join our Ophthalmology team and help us deliver high-quality Cataract service for our patients.
So, if you are a GMC registered Ophthalmologist who has passed both the Part 1 FRCOphth and the Refraction examination, and you are looking for a team that will support you while completing your specialist training through the 'Certificate confirming Eligibility for Specialist Registration' (CESR).
If successful, you will be based at Southend Hospital but will hold clinics at our outreach hubs. You will have the opportunity to rotate across the wider Trust and gain further experience by working collaboratively with colleagues across our friendly multidisciplinary team with the aim to expand the service further with innovative leadership, ideas, audit, and research projects.

Main duties of the job
Within your role, you will undertake:
- Acute ophthalmology clinics in the eye emergency department (EED) and ward referrals including visiting other hospitals.- HVLC Cataract Clinics and theatre lists- Emergency and Acute Ophthalmology- Theatre sessions- Procedures / laser / injections/ minor operations- Speciality Clinics at preferred sub specialty level- Clinical Administration- Non DCC- Supporting Professional Activities to include teaching
Please note the service does require a good degree of flexibility from the post holder.
It is expected that there will be patient directed activities during the week which may include face to face Clinics, Virtual Clinics, Theatre, Lasers, and emergency department.

- Completed 4 years full time post graduate training (or equivalent if part time) at least 2 of which shall be in a specialty training programme in the specialty or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
Experience and Knowledge
