Join us in our busy, high-performing Emergency Department, where you'll play a key role in delivering urgent and emergency care to a wide range of unselected patients--whether arriving by ambulance or walking in. You'll gain experience across all clinical areas, including Resus, Majors, Minors, Paediatrics, and our Rapid Assessment zone.
You'll be working as part of a highly motivated, consultant-led team that provides 24-hour, on-the-floor cover--ensuring consistent, high-quality care around the clock. Consultants are present daily from 08:00 to 22:00, actively leading and supporting the department. Providing round-the-clock shop floor cover is a core part of this role, and we're looking for someone with strong clinical acumen, resilience, and a true team spirit.
With over 100,000 attendances a year, our Emergency Department is a fast-paced, rewarding environment where your ideas and initiative will be valued. You'll be joining a department with its own Clinical Director, and a team of nine dedicated Emergency Medicine Consultants who are not only experts in their field but also passionate about shaping the future of emergency care.
Main duties of the job
Attend to the day to day management of ED patients across all areas based on competence and training.
Liaise between nurses, other junior doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff
Attend to the day to day management of ED patients
Attend and participate in board rounds
Teach medical students as directed
Take part in rostered emergency work
To keep up-to date with all administrative duties including letters, results and discharge summaries as required
Maintain continued professional development
Undertake and assist in audit projects
Attend educational and multidisciplinary sessions
To co-operate with members of the HR department when monitoring hours of work
Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave
