Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join our Haematology department based at our Broomfield Hospital site.
This is an ideal role for a candidate with an excellent background in clinical haematology. You would be responsible for care of in-patients admitted under haematology team .
Please note that to be considered for the post of Specialty Doctor you will need to evidence at least 4 years Clinical fellow experience or equivalent of which at least 2 years must be in the Haematology specialty.
Here at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust we take an innovative approach which aims to deliver vertically integrated haematology services from the community, through to secondary and Tertiary care.
Main duties of the job
The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service. Multidisciplinary team working is a key component of the working of Directorate.
o Attend and assist at Outpatient clinics.
o In conjunction with other members of the team, to manage haematology inpatients. To attend Consultant ward rounds as required.
o To undertake bone marrow biopsy and other procedures.
o Provide medical support for chemotherapy and day unit services.
o To be available for advice to junior doctors, attending ward/day unit as necessary.
o To liaise with GPs and provide advice in consultation with Consultant Haematologist.
o To assist with, attend and contribute to patient management at MDTs.
o To assist with laboratory queries and report blood films, bone marrow aspirates within your level of competence and training.
o To complete training and obtain competence in prescribing chemotherapy and assist with chemotherapy prescriptions.
o Weekend inpatient cover is provided by specialty doctors and specialty registrars in Basildon Hospital and Southend Hospital on a 1:3 or 1:4 basis.
o To ensure all documentation is comprehensive, accurate and completed in a timely manner
