Specialist Radiographer in Late Effects of Head and Neck Radiotherapy

Are you ready to lead something new? Southend University Hospital is proud to announce an exciting new role for a Lead Radiographer in Late Effects - Head & Neck. This is a unique opportunity to establish and develop a service that will make a lasting impact on the lives of radiotherapy patients beyond their treatment.

As the first you, you'll take the lead in designing, implementing, and delivering a radiographer-led late effects service for head and neck cancer patients. Working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, you will be at the forefront of survivorship care--improving long-term outcomes and quality of life for our patients.

Your role will focus on identifying and managing late effects of radiotherapy, creating clear pathways, and ensuring patients are supported physically, emotionally, and practically throughout their post-treatment journey.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the setup and delivery of a dedicated Late Effects Head & Neck service
  • Develop and implement robust clinical pathways, SOPs, and follow-up models
  • Collaborate with oncologists, CNS teams, AHPs, and external partners
  • Provide expert patient care, advice, and education
  • Drive service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives

  • Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC) registration as a therapy radiographer
  • Post graduate courses in management/leadership or other relevant clinical subject.
  • PGc Non-medical Prescribing Independent/Supplementary

Desirable

  • MSc ProsPer Module (HEE/ MCC) complete

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Significant postgraduate experience with specialist training and knowledge.
  • Leadership experience.

Communication

Desirable

  • Be enthusiastic and motivated, with the ability to lead a team through times of change.
