Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our friendly, dynamic Diabetes and Endocrinology team at Broomfield Hospital. The successful candidate will join an established innovative team of Consultants, Junior Doctors and Specialist Nurses.

We would fully support the successful candidate in developing an area of specialist interest, linked to the current needs of the service as across the sites we currently support a wide range of sub-interests within the field of diabetes and endocrinology, and there is an excellent mix of clinical work within the proposed job plan.

Please note we are awaiting Royal College approval of the JD. AAC interview planned for 27th June 2025

Main duties of the job

The role as Full time Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology will be performing outpatient clinics, ward reviews and will also support inpatient in-reach, providing expert assessment and advice for Diabetes and Endocrinology patients to General and Acute colleagues.

You will be expected to undertake electronic triaging of new outpatient referrals and review and respond to advice and guidance requests.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification
  • Full GMC registration
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus or within 6 months of CCT

Desirable

  • A higher degree in medicine (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Endocrinology & Diabetes Mellitus, with General (Internal) Medicine or Acute (Internal Medicine)
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within the specialty.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.

Desirable

  • Evidence of presentations or papers in Diabetes and Endocrinology and/or General /Acute Medicine.

Teaching Experience

  • Experience of supervising junior doctors
