Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Switchboard Operator to work within Broomfield hospital in Chelmsford.

You must have a flexible approach to working, be able to provide cover during periods of leave or sickness which regularly includes unsociable hours.
You must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work in a busy environment which includes handling emergency calls, bleep and alarm equipment.
You will be required to respond to an influx of telephone calls normally in coming. You will assist callers by answering the line and connecting the caller to the correct person or department.
Telephone/or Contact Centre experience is essential.
Main duties of the job
To be considered you should ideally have previous experience operating a telephone system switchboard console preferably within the NHS or a critical service environment. Reception experience or work within the NHS but other experience may be taken into account. Applicants must have a strong telephone manner.
You will need to possess excellent literacy and good numeric skills, be confident and able to work under pressure whilst remaining polite and courteous at all times, as these are essential requirements for the role.
