You will assist the consultants in providing a histopathology service to Basildon Hospital. Duties expected of the post-holder will depend on previous experience and negotiation on appointment.

Main duties of the job
- Consider the needs of the department and work with others in the department to provide a harmonious service.
- Provide a Histopathology Service of the highest quality.provide cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absence.
- Further develop the Histopathology Service with colleagues and management representatives of the directorate
- Work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital agreed panned activity for inpatient and outpatient services

Pathology sits within MSE Care Group 4, together with radiology, pharmacy, therapies and integrated care. Cellular Pathology, incorporating histopathology and cytology, forms part of Pathology together with haematology, biochemistry, immunology and microbiology, managed by a General Manager.
The Clinical Director for pathology is Dr Faisal Bin-Reza, a Consultant Microbiologist. The Clinical Lead for Cellular Pathology is currently Dr Peter Davis. Laboratory services for our Basildon and Southend sites are provided by Pathology First, a partnership between MSE trust and Synlab UK Ltd. At Broomfield Hospital, laboratory services are provided by the trust.
Management arrangements are in accordance with the Strategic Review of Pathology ServicesAll staff in the Division are managerially accountable to the Clinical Director who has overall responsibility for MSE Pathology Services.
