Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Plastic Surgery Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)Team on a 10 month seconded contract until the 31/3/25.
As a Skin Cancer CNS your role is to provide comprehensive nursing support to patients and their carer's with a diagnosis of skin cancer. The ideal candidate will work as an autonomous clinical expert in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating expert nursing care given to skin cancer patients.
The successful Candidate will join a well-established team and will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good team player with the ability to work well on their own initiative and willing to take on a variety of duties, whilst having the ability to maintain attention to detail.
You will ideally have knowledge or experience within cancer services, but this is not essential and full training will be given.
Excellent communication skills will be required as well as the ability to work with different computer programmes.
This role will be across multi-sites working in our satellite clinics so the successful candidate will need to have access to a car and be able to drive.
Main duties of the job
To provide comprehensive nursing support to patients and their relatives with a diagnosis of Skin Cancer in line with the broad aims of the NHS Cancer Plan, Cancer Reform Strategy and Improving Outcome of Guidance for the management of patients with Skin Cancer.
Working as an autonomous clinical expert in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating expert nursing care and treatment give to Skin caner patients
Managing own caseload of patients in the nurse led clinics, empower patients in all aspects of self-management of disease symptoms and treatment side effects.
Receiving and acting upon clinical referrals directly from other health care professionals under the supervision of the band 7 Skin Cancer CNS's.
