Job summary
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a Medical Secretary to work as part of a team to support the administrative function of the service. You will hold the responsibility of organising and maintaining the occupational health consultant's diary and the creation and processing of all the doctor's reports and correspondence. You will work with leads to ensure that all key performance indicators are met, providing an exceptional, high-quality service that promotes, maintains and improves the health of employees, safeguards against risks arising from their work and working environment and promotes the health of the organisation.
With direction from the operational leads, the role will require co-ordination of the health surveillance needs of the Trust and maintaining the occupational health consultant's diary to support this function. The role will also have the responsibility to provide secretarial, clerical and general support to the clinical team.
Main duties of the job
- Ability to converse professionally with people face to face and over the telephone, deals with complex queries, demonstrating excellent client interface skills
- Confident and approachable manner in dealing with client and manager
- Answer telephone and greet visitors courteously, referring them to senior staff when necessary and communicating all messages clearly and precisely.
- Ensure effective communication with all members of the team and address complex
- Ensure effective communication with clients in a tactful and sensitive manner, protecting their confidentiality at all times
- To provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the occupational health Consultant and the senior leadership team.
- Contribute to team meetings and participate in communication cascade by providing constructive feedback
- To have an awareness of both the trust need and outside contracts for health surveillance and plan the occupational health Consultant's diary accordingly
