Job summary
The Acute Medicine team are recruiting a Clinical Fellow (Foundation Year 1 Level) post on a 2 year fixed term basis.
This post have been designed to develop junior doctors' generic skills before entering the Foundation year 2 programme as expected by Modernising Medical Careers and will work in conjunction with the Foundation Year 1 training posts.
Although this post has neither Royal College nor Postgraduate approval for training, the successful candidate will be well supported by an allocated educational mentor.
The Trust has an excellent Postgraduate Medical Centre which carries a full programme of events and offers access to a Medical Library and education opportunities.
You must have an MBBS (or equivalent) and hold Full Registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice at the time of application.

Main duties of the job
- Develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
- Follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.
- Gain experience in general practice, and the interface between primary and secondary care.
- Improve all aspects of communication with patients, carers and staff members working within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Develop knowledge of hospital systems and clinical governance.Improve competencies in IT skills and critical use of evidence and data.
- Keep accurate records and completing discharge summaries.Liaise between nurses, other junior doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
- Take part in rostered emergency and on-call work.Keep up-to date with all administrative duties including letters, results and discharge summaries as required.
- Maintain continued professional development.
- Undertake and assist in audit projects.
- Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions.Co-operate with members of the HR department when monitoring hours of work.
- Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave .
