Job summary

We are looking to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Acute Emergency Medicine to join our team at Broomfield on a full time permanent basis.

In your role you will be expected to carry out ward rounds/reviews on the acute assessment units/SDEC when on duty. Periods of duty will be defined in accordance with the rota prepared by the rota coordinator/Consultant in charge.

Our hospital has an outstanding nursery. We are spoilt for choice with excellent schools, housing and transport links. Central London is a 25 minute train ride, Stansted airport 30 minutes away, and the beach 20 miles away.

This role requires a minimum of 4 years full time post graduate experience, of which at least 2 years needs to be in this specialty. Please note that only Specialty Doctor experience and above can be counted towards your salary - no clinical Fellow experience can be used.

Main duties of the job

  • You will have day-to-day supervisory responsibility for patients on the ward.
  • You will cover inpatients under consultant supervision.
  • You will take part in consultant ward rounds.
  • You will ensure that case notes are properly completed, drug prescriptions are regularly reviewed, appropriate investigations are carried out and the results acted upon and made available for consultant ward rounds.
  • You will ensure that GP electronic discharge letters containing all relevant information are sent in a timely manner.
