Job summary
There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Maternal serum screening team. You will be responsible for coordinating the issue of results relating to the risk and probability of a Down's, Edwards' or Pateau's syndrome birth. This includes liaison with many groups of staff - both internal and external to the Trust - as well as checking data to ensure accuracy. This role will also include monitoring of the turnaround time of referred samples, and supporting clinical team with referral work.

Main duties of the job
Mid and South Essex University Hospital group is the regional 1st trimester maternal screening center for this region. This involves producing a probability of a Down's, Edward's or Pateau's Syndrome birth, based on biochemical assays and the data obtained from the multidisciplinary teams (midwives, nurses, clerical and technical staff).
This role coordinates and troubleshoots all aspects of this process in order to ensure the accuracy of patient information and minimise the risk associated with screen-negative results and requires in depth checking of many types of data and liaising with all participants. This must be performed within a very short turnaround time in order for the service to maintain relevant accreditation.
