An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team of pharmacy assistants, technicians and pharmacists to help deliver safe, high-quality medicines to our patients in a timely manner.
After a period of structured training, you will become a key part of an established team. Once competent you will be given the opportunity to complete an NVQ level 2 as part of the role.
Working in clean rooms you will be trained to prepare medicines using isolators, calculate doses, assemble products and perform checks. You will assist all staff in maintaining the aseptic unit by performing critical tasks to ensure the cleanliness.

Main duties of the job
To carry out all work following standard operating procedures
Manufacture chemotherapy, clinical trials and other intravenous additives
Assembly, labelling and accuracy checking of aseptic products.
Prepare and calculate worksheets, transcribing patient information and doses from chemocare.
Daily checks to be carried out reporting any out of specification results.
Complete environmental monitoring testing duties, e.g contact plates, weekly plates and isolator leak testing.
Stock management
Maintaining all operator validations.

- Carry out all work following standard operating procedures.
- Maintain competency in compounding, assembly, labelling and accuracy checking aseptic products.
- The compounding of all preparations dispensed within aseptic services.
- Prepare and calculate worksheets, transcribing patient information and doses from Chemocare.
- Co-ordinate the supply of Chemotherapy to the chemotherapy day unit ensuring products are supplied in a timely manner.
- Carry out all necessary pre work equipment and production checks notifying the unit manager of any faults or deviations.
- Complete environmental testing duties e.g. contacts plates, weekly plates and leak testing isolators.
- Inspect, label and final compound check batch stock items for release under the licence.
- Assisting unit managers with the maintenance of documentation systems including commenting and advising on changes to standard operating procedures and other associated documents.
- Ensure appropriate replenishment and ordering of consumables.
- Accurately receive goods into the pharmacy department
- Responsible for the rotation of stock, ensuring that short dated items are used first.
- Check stock levels of drugs and report to the supervisor any stock discrepancies and assists with the resolution of these.
- Responsible for entering data into the departments computer system, to produce labels and associated paper work for manufacturing documents.
- To train pharmacy staff in some of the duties outlined above.
- Assist with the training of pharmacy assistants and other less experienced staff.
- Maintain competencies within dispensaries and stores area of pharmacy.
- Participate as part of pharmacy aseptic team bank holidays rota and help support the service by providing assistance at weekends when required.
