Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSE) have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified professional to join our Health and Safety Team as a Moving and Handling Advisor to assist in the promotion a positive moving & handling culture throughout the Trust and assist in the reduction of incidents of manual handling for the protection of injury to our patients and staff.
Provide the highest standard of professional training to Trust staff, in line with NHS Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) requirements, in supporting the management of moving and handling risks and promoting use of safe working practices throughout the Trust.
Promote the Trust's values in creating a safe and healthy environment in which to deliver the highest standards of clinical care to the Trust's patients.
You will (predominantly) provide moving and handling training (patient handling and inanimate load) to Trust staff, but they will also be expected to cover the following duties provided by the Health and Safety & Team (this list is not exhaustive).
Display Screen Equipment Assessments with Individuals.Specialist Manual Handling Risk Assessments.
Main duties of the job
Refer to Moving and Handling Advisor job description (list below not exhaustive).
Act as a resource for staff, providing advice and guidance on best practice in moving and handling. This includes working with staffing teams to problem solve difficult situations and contribute to the development of management guidelines, ensuring that proactive strategies are in place and that the use of equipment is utilised for safety and dignity.
You will possess detailed specialist knowledge of current moving and handling legislation and best practices. Demonstrate the ability to interpret and advise on new legislation as it emerges, effectively communicate changes to the Trust, and implement updated safe systems of work.
