Job summary

Our Medical Emergency Team (MEA's) are looking for a Medical Emergency Assistant to join its small, friendly and supportive team to support registered practitioners to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care in a timely manner across all wards.

The Medical Emergency Team (MEA's) is led by the Hospital out of Hours (HOOH) team. The MEA works closely alongside the HOOH team, to facilitate the smooth running of wards in undertaking cannulation, phlebotomy and blood gases or other extended skills as appropriate within their scope of competence.

Main duties of the job

In your role as Medical Emergency Assistant you will work effectively as a member of the clinical team on the wards, establishing and maintaining professional relationships within the team and with all service users and work flexibly and collaboratively within scope of competence to support the delivery of safe, effective, patient-centred care which meets key performance and quality standards, within the MEA role.

You will be required to work without direct supervision and prioritise workload and be able to work under pressure when required, maintain the dignity and privacy of patients at all times, maintain excellent communication with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team regarding all aspects of care demonstrating a variety of communication skills as required and undertake patient moving and handling using safe and correct procedures endorsed by the Trust.

You will maintain a clean environment/aseptic technique when required with due consideration to Health and Safety issues as policy and demonstrate appropriate care of patients with a varying range of abilities and disabilities
