The Respiratory Unit is a 44 bedded unit based on Rochford and Westcliff Wards. The 44 beds incorporate a 12 bedded Respiratory High Dependency Unit. We are a supportive, welcoming and friendly team.
The unit is a dynamic and stimulating environment for those interested in respiratory medicine. We provide BIPAP/CPAP services as an integrated part of what we do. There is a high degree of nurse led care. We have very close links with our specialty CNS's, ITU, chest clinic and with community care providers. The ward has 4 Respiratory Consultants who oversee the unit and provide ward based medical care
Main duties of the job
You will, require strong, professional leadership qualities are needed at this level. It is critical to the quality of care, staff morale, and the learning environment including liaison with the Ward Manager, lead and co-ordinate a dedicated team of nursing and support staff to ensure the delivery of a high standard of nursing care.
In the absence of the Ward Manager you will be responsible for the effective deployment of ward/department resources including manpower, adherence to NMC Code of Practice at all times and ensureward compliance with and application of hospital policies and procedures.
You will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Governance systems in the ward/department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety and Controls Assurance.
