Job summary
Here at Mid and South Essex we are seeking an experienced Staff Nurse to join our well established team at our Basildon Hospital site.
The appointed applicant will be required to work across the Directorate and engage in internal rotations as per service demand.
You will be a highly skilled member of our nursing team in all areas of the Day Stay/Cath labs in the CTC and DGH, and to assist in the high provision of care to patients and families. This includes planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient's care following agreed care pathways.

Main duties of the job
- To provide the highest standard of nursing care for the patients and their families by ensuring that an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the patients.
- To be proficient in the care of patient's pre and post cardiac intervention, including scrub skills for the cardiac catheter lab and sheath removal.
- Demonstrate skills in the care and management of the critically ill patient.
- Work closely with all members of the care team to ensure the needs of the critically ill patient are met.
- To partake in the on-call rota for the cardiac catheter labs

- To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual patients assisting other staff in this activity if required,
- To ensure the discharge planning process starts on admission to prevent delays and make good utilisation of unit beds.
- Report on patient condition to the medical staff and ensure prescribed treatments are carried out. Ensure all members of the health care team are kept informed of the changing needs of the patient.
- To take all measures to ensure the safety of patients. To report all accidents/incidents promptly to the Unit Manager/nurse in charge, also completing the relevant form correctly.
