Job summary

Mid and South NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a Maternity Ward Clerk to be based at our Southend Hospital site.

We are pleased to offer this post of ward clerk for the Postnatal ward to support the staff and service users providing high quality reception duties, welcoming service users/visitors to the ward. To ensure patients details are recorded accurately on Medway/CSC system. Manage telephone enquiries in a professional manner.

The role will requires flexibility to ensure service is covered to meet the service needs.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive, and efficient administrative service to the ward; enabling the delivery of a high quality service to the patients and allowing medical and nursing staff to focus on direct patient care. This will involve considerable liaison with other departments and wards.
  • To offer effective support to the ward team to assist with the improvement of the flow of patients within the hospital in order to reduce patient waiting times.
