Job summary

Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join our pharmacy team as an Outsourced Outpatient Pharmacy Service Manager

You will provide leadership and project management support during the transition of outpatient dispensing to the outsourced service provider. You will be responsible to provide assurance that the outsourced service(s) are delivering a high standard service along with a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as incident monitoring, data assessment etc and maintain a close working relationship with the outsourced providers service manager and staff.

Main duties of the job

  • To organise and deliver monthly operational management meetings of the outsourced service(s).
  • To manage the client relationship and lead on outsourced outpatient pharmacy service developments.
  • To be the lead and first point of contact for the Outsourced service provider, outpatient clinics and pharmacy staff regarding outsourcing and the interface issues.
  • To intervene if the outsourced service is not meeting the obligations of the contract - either through provision of support and/or guidance or holding service providers to account.
  • To monitor, validate and report on the financial data and KPI performance indicators for the outsourced pharmacy.
  • Line management of allocated staff.

  • To establish a professional working relationship with all stakeholders linking to the outsourced outpatient pharmacy.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all grades of Pharmacy staff, as well as other healthcare professionals and external staff.
  • To analyse and interpret complex information relating to the service or individual patients where there are a range of facts requiring analysis and where a range of options need to be compared.
  • In conjunction with the Pharmacy Operational Lead for Outsourcing, develop and maintain an operational policy for Outsourced outpatient services.To work with the IT team to roll out and support the use of ePMA in outpatient settings.
  • To monitor the contract including regular review and management of KPIs.
  • To identify areas of potential cost savings.
  • Be the lead interface between the outsourced provider and the Trust to ensure the service meets Trust requirements.
  • To work with the Clinical lead technician and Deputy Pharmacy Operations Manager to be responsible for the training and assessment of Pharmacy technicians and Assistants.
  • To lead on the recruitment of Pharmacy staff.
  • To line manage technical and dispensary staff HR issues including sickness and discipline.
