Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic Junior Service Manager to support the management team in the day-to-day operational management of the Ophthalmology Outpatient service at the Southend site although some cross site working may be required.
This will include: ensuring that outpatient clinics are fully utilised, full validation of waiting lists and other data is carried out regularly.To lead on individual projects and participate in service improvements, including providing analysis on data and information and liaising with other staff across the directorate and wider Trust.
To line manage the outpatient team, admission clerks and secretaries, ensuring that their workload is managed appropriately and completed to a high standard. To ensure that appraisals, leave and performance is consistently managed across the team

- To ensure that clear booking processes are in place and are adhered to at all times.
- To ensure that hospital cancellations of patients' appointments and/or treatment is minimised through good planning.
- To support the general manager/clinical service manager in ensuring that all the directorate's key performance indicators and local and national targets are achieved.
- To support the development and implementation of plans to address areas of concerning performance, including leading on specific actions and areas.
- Act as a point of escalation during the day for problems arising. Resolve issues or escalate to a senior manager.
- Ensure that the office area is tidy and presents a welcoming and professional image of the department to other staff and visitors.
- Lead on specific service improvements and developments across the service
