Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic , dynamic and forward thinking experienced nurses to join our fantastic nursing team in Fredrick Banting Ward as a Junior Charge Nurse
You will be required to work in the new Regional Vascular Unit (Frederick Banting Ward) on an internal rotation of day and night shifts and/or according to the needs of the service delivery.
A motivation and interest in vascular, surgical and HDU nursing is essential and you will support the ward manager in operational management and clinical leadership of the ward.
Main duties of the job
You role will be to work with the Ward Manager as a Nurse in Charge to assess relevant care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programs of care, to supervise Junior Nurses as appropriate to ensure an acceptable safe and high standard of care and assist in the monitoring of all ward staff, including nursing students in a Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor role as required.
You will ensure good communications exist between all health care professionals and promote harmonious working relationships and safe working practices, ensure good relationships and communications with patients/relatives by ensuring frequent contact and availability and take all steps possible to safeguard the health, welfare and safety of all staff, patients and visitors.
As our Junior Charge nurse you will be expected to ensure all drug administration is in accordance with Legal and Trust Policies and Procedures, assist with the safe custody, storage and control of all drugs at ward level.and acquire and maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of all Trust Policies with particular reference to : Manual Handling, Cardiac Arrest ,Fire , Major Incident and Health and Safety.
