Job summary
We require enthusiastic and motivated Switchboard Operator to work within Broomfield hospital in Chelmsford.
You must have a flexible approach to working, be able to provide cover during periods of leave or sickness which regularly includes unsociable hours.
You must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work in a busy environment which includes handling emergency calls, paging and alarm equipment.
Telephone/or Contact Centre experience is essential.
Main duties of the job
A switchboard operator will be required to respond to an influx of telephone calls normally in coming in. The operator assists callers by answering the line and connecting the caller to the correct person or department.
Be an active member of the switchboard/reception team and support the delivery of a highly effective, quality, and responsive service.
Be a positive role model and actively promote the Trust's values.
Support the switchboard team leader to ensure that all services are available 24/7, patient focussed, and effective.
Provide cover as appropriate during periods of absence of any member of the customer services team.
Work accurately and methodically.
Work in a team but use own initiative.
Use IT/communications equipment.
Be confident using the phone.
Take day to day responsibility for the switchboard alarm systems.
Adhere to Trust policies and procedures, e.g., Health and Safety at Work, Equal Opportunities etc.
Attend statutory, essential, and mandatory training.
Respect the confidentiality of all matters relating to their employment and other members of staff.
Comply with the codes of professional conduct set out by the professional body of which registration is required for the post.
Ensure they are familiar with the Risk Management Framework, follow policies, procedures, and safe systems of work, make known any hazards or risks that they identify and take all necessary actions to reduce risk.
