Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team.
The post holder will act as first point of contact for communication for a team of Consultants and other clinical staff. Provide an effective and efficient personal assistant and secretarial service. Communicate professionally and confidently with all grades and disciplines. Manage all aspects of the Consultant's roles, liaising with professional bodies where medical staff have additional roles and special interests. Use own initiative in all areas.
The post holder will be required to work as part of a team of one or more Band 4s, Band 3s and Band 2s providing cross cover during annual leave and sick leave as required.
IMPORTANT: This role is dual site based covering both Southend and Basildon Consultants and will require post holder to work at both Southend University Hospital and Basildon University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
- Work as part of the clinical support services team to ensure delivery of a comprehensive and effective administration service to medical personnel across the directorate including the provision of a comprehensive typing and secretarial service.
- Undertaking the full range of Band 4 duties including, diary management and the creation and maintenance of a variety of business and clinical documents.
- Advise relevant departments of consultant and team members annual and study leave arrangements to ensure that relevant adjustments are made to clinic templates and theatre schedules.
- Work without supervision and take the initiative to ensure smooth running of service.
- Liaise with appropriate departments and team members to ensure that any new services introduced run smoothly and efficiently.
- Be versatile and adaptable to the demands of the medical team.
