Job summary

We are looking for a Consultant Dermatologist to join our dermatology department to work between our Basildon and Broomfield Hospital sites on a permanent part time basis.

The Dermatology department has a high throughput of patients. We typically see 15000 new patients and 21000 follow up cases per year. In addition there were over 12000 attendances for phototherapy last year and 400 patients underwent patch testing.

Clinics are 4 hours, with 3.5 hours of patient consultations and 30 minutes immediate clinic administration. Clinic templates vary with clinic type and supervision of other doctors but typically 14 patients 6 news, 8 follow up patients.

1 hour per clinic is also job-planned for subsequent clinic administration. Clinics at non-base sites are reduced to allow for travel time.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for dynamic colleagues with enthusiasm and leadership qualities. You should be able to lead a multidisciplinary team.

The Department of Dermatology provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services, and has a reputation for developing a positive and creative working environment.

We typically see 5000 new patients and 7000 follow up cases per year. In addition there were over 5,500 attendances for phototherapy last year and 200 patients underwent patch testing.

On call commitments for dermatology are 1 in 5. There is no out of hours consultant cover requirement.We are based in a recently modernised site, with excellent links to community services. Broomfield Hospital also has strong links with Anglia Ruskin university's Science campus and London-based research and educational networks.

You are required to be in possession of your MRCP, licensed and fully registered with the GMC and be on the specialist register for dermatology or within 6 months of achieving this.
