Job summary
We are looking for a Specialty Doctor in Oncology to join our existing Oncology team at Southend.
Recent strategic developments across the area as part of the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) has seen the creation of a single integrated medical team for Oncology working across the three acute trust - Southend, Basildon and Broomfield in Chelmsford. This role will work from Broomfield Hospital to support the oncology service on site.
The vision for this larger single team will facilitate cross cover, support increased sub specialisation and facilitate individual job plans in line with Royal College Guidance on tumour site cover.

Main duties of the job
o This post will provide good experience for career development within oncology. There will be opportunities to undertake outpatient work within the time table.
o Provide oncological support to patients at Mid Essex Hospital, working in conjunction with Consultants, junior doctors and palliative care nursing team.
o Manage patients and provide advice and support to other clinical teams within Mid Essex Hospital and, if necessary, other sites for occasional cross over, in particular;
o Assessment of patients having outpatient chemotherapy
o To participate and attend the relevant MDMs which are key to patient management
o To provide cover (where appropriate) for colleagues periods of leave
o To participate in the Acute Oncology Service
o To support consultant led outpatient clinics
o To cover chemotherapy unit
o Multidisciplinary team working is a key component of the working in the department.o To work alongside colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high quality and safe service for patients is maintained at all times.o To provide cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.o To ensure that proper clinical records are made and maintained.o To undertake continuing medical education facilitated by funded study leave.o To participate in clinical audit, and to maintain proper clinical records for this purpose.o To undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients
