This is an opportunity for a band 5/6 position within Immunology, If you have started your specialist we could also offer Band 6 Annex u 21
HCPC-registered Biomedical scientist to perform laboratory investigations unsupervised in the laboratory and section assigned when competency has been achieved.
A trainee would be considered at Band 5 Annex u but only with previous MLA Immunology experience and currently working through your registration portfolio.
Main duties of the job
The Immunology lab is part of the Blood Sciences department based at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. The MEHT Immunology workload is approximately 6000 tests per month with approximately 50% from GP's. Routine autoimmune and allergy tests are done in house while other tests are referred to specialist laboratories. The LIMS system is WinPath version 5 currently however we have an ongoing project for Enterprise in 2022.

The Immunology department at Broomfield is a well established and friendly team that is focused mainly on autoimmune disease and allergy testing, currently equipped with two Phadia 250s, a EUROBlotmaster, Quantalyser 2 and fluorescence microscope with camera. The successful candidate will work alongside the existing team of 2 x band 7, 1 x band 6 and 2 band 3s.
Immunology consultant cover is provided by South West London Pathology hosted by St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Immunology opening hours are currently8:30-5pm Monday to Friday.
The multi-faith room is a much valued resource and very well used.
The trust currently offer travel incentives such as Park and ride, discounted bus fares, careshare and currently the staff parking is free.
Band 5 BMS currently working on their Immunology specialist portfolio, would be considered for this post, on an Annex U 21.
