Job summary
We are currently looking for Band 5 Nurses to come and join our team on our 20 bed 'ring fenced' Elective Orthopaedic Ward at Braintree Community Hospital
Courtauld Ward at BCH is the elective orthopaedic centre for Mid and South Essex, undertaking hip and knee replacements as well as a wide range of shoulder, hand, foot and day case surgery.
Courtauld ward is a modern light and airy environment, with a happy and friendly atmosphere. There is a caf serving fresh food and a free staff carpark.
Our ward prides itself in providing a high standard of patient care, experience, and quality service. Our team is friendly, supportive, vibrant and dynamic; everyone is encouraged to participate as a member of the team in developing their nursing skills. We offer a structured band 5 competency programme and support to complete mandatory training. We also apply for post graduate courses as they become available.
We hope to attract a wide range of experience for the post; we welcome applicants that are newly qualified or have experience in different areas who would like to join our team therefore previous orthopaedic experience is preferred but not essential.
Shift Patterns:
Night - 19.15 - 07.45, Long day - 07.00 - 20.00
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of individualized care to patients, whilst maintaining at all times their privacy and dignity
To assess care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care
To contribute to supporting the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse
To support the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area
To communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, their relatives/carers, nursing colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is delivered in an accurate and efficient manner.
Establish and maintain good communication with the ward/department administrative, housekeeping and domestic staff.
To consistently organize and deliver individualized patient care, ensuring patients' physical, social and psychological needs are met.
Support Nurse Led Discharge within area of responsibility and actively participate in discharging/ transferring 'Medically fit' patients to more appropriate settings.
To embrace he essence of care framework and actively participate in its implementation locally.
To be responsible for ensuring all patients and their relatives/carers are kept fully informed of patients treatment/progress and discharge plans/ after care.
