Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust provides services to the residents of Southend, Basildon and Chelmsford. It was formed in April 2020 by the merger of Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, and Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The procurement function acts as a centre of excellence for all Procurement & Supply Chain activities across the new group. It manages the provision of goods and services to all departments (clinical and non-clinical) on a daily basis, contracting for the provision with several thousand suppliers. The service performs a strategic business management role, managing £370m of non-pay expenditure in support of its stakeholders across the group.

Main duties of the job

Play a key role in promoting the procurement operations team in MSE as a service for both internal and external customers. Ensure that the Operations team is able to support the expansion of the procurement service to others.

Drive a culture of customer centricity within the Procurement Operations team

To manage the implementation and development of procurement services for MSE to support the strategic approach to Systems & Supply Chain

Responsible for the development and execution of the Procurement Information Systems strategy. This will provide strategic direction in the provision of systems and processes that are required to transform the delivery and ongoing development of the procurement and logistics function in MSE.
