We provide acute services to patients from across the City of Bradford and surrounding areas from our two large hospitals and three intermediate care sites. Being one of the largest Foundation Trusts in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Integrated Care System (ICS) we provide all main specialties.

Main duties of the job
GENERAL
- Assessment of patient's own medication at the patient's bedside.
- Liaising with GP practice staff, ward pharmacists, nursing staff, dispensary and stores staff in order to supply appropriate medication for ward use and for patient discharge.
- Preparing and checking appropriate documentation such as medicine lists, prescription charts and discharge summaries.
- To counsel patients on the storage, dose, use, side effects and other relevant information about the drugs supplied.
- To enter details of prescriptions for individual patients onto the Pharmacy computer system in order to leave a record and create a label for all items including Controlled Drugs, Clinical Trials and unlicensed products.
- To dispense inpatient prescriptions including those for Controlled Drugs, Clinical Trials and unlicensed products as required.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- To undertake any training necessary for the safe and efficient performance of duties.
- To participate in the supervision, training and mentoring of pharmacy support workers and pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
- To have an occasional involvement in departmental audit.
PROFESSIONAL
- Any other duties at a comparable level of responsibility as required by the Lead Pharmacist - Urgent and Emergency Care.
- To ensure that all work is done with due regard to the Health and Safety at Work Act and COSHH Legislation.
