We have an exciting opportunity available. With funding from NIHR we will undertake a programme of research entitled 'Single and Safe Intervention for MEDication administration (SaSI-MEDs): The development and evaluation of an intervention to de-implement unnecessary double-checking of medicines'. We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow to work as part of a collaborative team to help deliver this research.

This post is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to develop their career, gaining experience of different research methods, including, in the later stages, clinical trials. The role of the Senior Research Fellow will be to plan and deliver this innovative programme of research. The programme is hosted within the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research Group (YQSR) which boasts many externally funded patient safety research projects with research teams across the UK and internationally.

We are a friendly, multi-disciplinary team committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in our research team, processes and research priorities and are always seeking to review and improve this. We actively encourage applicants from a broad range of backgrounds. We will support your career development and mentoring will be available to all.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting time to join our diverse team, with the opportunity to shape this research programme. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to do research that makes a difference in the NHS.

You will work alongside and collaborate with a health economist, qualitative researchers and triallists and will have support from a Research Fellow to deliver the research. In turn, you will work with guidance from the Programme Manager and senior academics from across the collaborating partner organisations.

You will be responsible for managing study design, recruitment and data collection and analysis and you will provide line management to at least one research fellow. The role will also include obtaining necessary ethical and governance approvals at project outset, for which support will be provided. Other responsibilities will include literature searching, working collaboratively with other team members, providing regular progress reports, disseminating the findings in different formats, including but not limited to publications, presentations, blogs, infographics, website content, social media, brief reports.

There is a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and impact, making this an ideal position for those who are keen to build their networks, develop their expertise in safety science and deliver research that makes a difference locally and nationally.
