Senior Midwifery Manager (Band 8A) - Fixed Term (12 Months)

Are you a passionate and experienced midwifery leader looking for your next challenge?

We are seeking a dynamic and committed Senior Midwifery Manager (Band 8A) to join our dedicated maternity team on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwifery professional to play a key leadership role within our maternity service. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the continuing management of the maternity unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe and compassionate care to women and their families.

As a visible and accessible leader, you will drive forward improvements in care standards, infection prevention, cleanliness, and patient and staff experience. You will lead and support quality improvement initiatives, ensuring best practice is embedded and sustained across the service.

In addition, you will be part of the midwifery management on-call rota, contributing to effective operational management and supporting staff at all levels.

Main duties of the job

Provide strong clinical leadership and effective management, supporting ward and departmental managers to deliver and sustain excellence in midwifery care.

Continuously improve clinical standards through achieving key quality and performance indicators.

Ensure the highest quality patient experience through visible, accessible, and compassionate leadership that inspires confidence in women, families, and staff.

Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusion, championing best practice in infection prevention and control to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Foster open communication within clinical areas, empowering staff to share ideas, raise concerns, and drive continuous improvement.

Oversee the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based midwifery care, improving outcomes and experiences for women, babies, and families while effectively managing clinical risk.

Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care and appropriate referrals.

Take responsibility for designated wards and departments, providing professional leadership and line management for clinical and support staff.

Ensure safe staffing levels in line with Trust policy and effective escalation processes.

Collaborate with the senior management team within the Clinical Service Unit, contributing to strategic priorities and quality improvement initiatives that promote excellence in care delivery and a culture of learning.
