The Associate Director of Nursing (ADN) for Children and Neonatal Services is a key member of the Children's CSU Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the strategic development and leadership of nursing across children's services. The ADN will establish and foster an effective working relationship with the Operations Medical Director and Director of Operations to lead improvement in nursing care, service delivery and the achievement of organisational priorities within the Clinical Business Units.
The ADN has overall responsibility for the delivery of safe, clinically, cost effective and compassionate nursing care across all areas providing children's services. The ADN will provide assurance to the Chief Nurse (CN) and Director of Operations regarding compliance against all appropriate professional, organisational and national compliance standards for children's services. The ADN will have line Management responsibility for all Nursing, AHP and Nursing Support Staff working within the Children's CSU. The ADN will lead on specific Trust wide or care group improvement programmes as part of Bradford Improvement Programme.

To provide expert nursing advice into the Senior Leadership Team and provide effective leadership and direction for all nursing and support staff across the children's services.

- Ensure that nursing care is delivered to a high standard and that the nursing resource is managed and developed effectively. She/he contributes to the ongoing implementation of the national nursing and midwifery strategy within the contexts of BTHFT and the Care Group, ensuring achievement of Trust objectives and proactively modernising nursing roles in accordance with the needs of patients.
- Act as a role model and be a point of contact for advice and expertise on all matters relating to professional nursing issues. In so doing will lead the design and delivery of new nursing roles, integrated pathways of care with health and social care partners and along with the Deputy operations Medical director and Clinical Directors will lead a high focus on clinical governance within the childrens CSU.
- Be visible, accessible and identifiable to patients and their families, and an authoritative figure providing assistance and support, with patient safety and experience as paramount.
- Represent nursing services at Trust level and work with internal and external partners in the development and influence of service development and service redesign.
- Ensure that the nursing function is proactive and influential in its contribution to Care Group, Trust and System wide operational and strategic plans.
