An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated Audiologist to join our multi-disciplinary team based at the purpose built Listening for Life Centre.

The postholder will be responsible for the day to day coordination of the YAIS Audiology service including the line management of the audiology team. Clinically the postholder will independently, undertake highly specialised complex and non-routine clinical audiological assessment and rehabilitation of babies, children and adults under assessment and post cochlear implantation.

Main duties of the job

The primary duties of the post are;

  • Lead and line manage the YAIS audiology team.
  • Lead and coordinate the specialist clinical, technical and rehabilitation service for the audiological aspects of support for patients referred and managed by YAIS.
  • Be responsible for the development of the paediatric and adult YAIS audiological services, including audit and research.
  • Participate and coordinate clinics with ENT Consultants.
  • Contribute to MDT discussions around patients, both pre and post cochlear implantation and service issues.
  • Responsible for the teaching and training of Audiology professionals with regard Cochlear Implants.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc in Audiology or equivalent and MSc equivalence eg significant clinical experience and M level study or MSc in Audiology with a certificate of clinical competence, such as Certificate of Audiological Competence, Higher Training Scheme, Scientific Training Programme or equivalent.
  • AHCS/HPCP Registration with evidence of CPD in accordance with registration body

Desirable

  • Mentorship/Supervision qualification
  • Management/Leadership qualification
  • CACDP Stage 1

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in all aspects of audiological assessment and management of cochlear implants
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Evidence of management/supervisory experience
  • Evidence of leading and developing an area of Audiological practice

Desirable

  • Involvement /leadership of audit and research
  • Involvement professionally at a regional or national level
  • Experience in the teaching / training of others
