This is a less than full time post with an 8PA allocation.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals as a Consultant Neurologist. The successful applicant will join a dynamic and committed team of 4 other Consultants, 2 registrars and 4 specialist nurses (Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's disease) who work alongside the inpatient service based on Ward 6 at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
The team is supported internally by colleagues in radiology, neurophysiology, neuropsychology and neuro-therapy, together with many external networks
The role will focus on a General Neurology role including streamlining pathways for neurology input in primary and secondary care but with encouragement to develop specialist interests and services. The post holder will have shared responsibility for the neurology inpatient beds, including acute neurology referrals and will also undertake outpatient clinics.
Main duties of the job
To develop the acute and general neurology service along with the other consultants at Bradford for a more integrated neurology service with an emphasis on streamlining pathways for neurology input in primary and secondary care
To work with consultant colleagues and the head of service to develop the existing services with a five-year plan to be recognised as a centre of excellence in neurology with particular emphasis on the multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and movement disorders services.
To represent Bradford Teaching Hospitals in discussions with the West Yorkshire Neurology Network to develop a WYAAT wide model of collaborative service delivery
To supervise and train junior medical staff, specialist nurses and the research nurses
To have shared responsibility for the neurology in-patient beds, including acute neurology referrals
To undertake and delivery outpatient clinic in line with referral to treatment pathways
Teaching and administration
To support the placement of students in the department and act as a clinical teacher
To facilitate delivery of undergraduate teaching as directed by the departmental education lead
