We are seeking a committed team player to join our GI Cancer Multidisciplinary Team. This is a full-time post. You will be an enthusiastic, conscientious team player, with the ability to work under pressure. We are looking for someone with excellent written and communication skills and a proven ability to manage time and organisational skills. We encourage free thinking and will happily work with ideas from any member of the team. A caring and sensitive attitude is essential as you will be in frequent contact with patients and their families.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Pathway Navigator is integral to the smooth, coordinated and efficient running of the GI Cancer pathway. Ensuring that patients and their carers are supported and signposted through the complex pathway.
The post holder will improve patient experience by providing an accessible, friendly nonclinical contact for patients and their families. You will provide support and information throughout the entire journey, thus reducing anxiety and providing reassurance. You will provide information on interventions/tests, ensuring the patient arrives fully prepared.
It is essential that the post holder can exhibit a clear understanding of confidentiality. You will have significant NHS clerical and administrative experience. With the ability to manage the IT systems used within the service (PPM, Cerner). You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of cancer targets and patient pathways.
