JOB PURPOSE
Our MDT Coordinators and MDT assistants keep track of all the suspected and diagnosed cancer patients that are referred into our trust, making sure they are seen and treated within national cancer wating time targets. The service supports the weekly multidisciplinary team meetings and are integral members of these meeting. You will be involved in supporting the MDT Coordinators with delivery, collection and preparation of patient data in readiness for weekly MDT meetings as well as meticulous capture of cancer data for our cancer database and audits. Ensuring all suspected cancer referrals and patients diagnosed with cancer are managed through their pathway of care in a timely and effective manner.
The postholder will play a pivotal role in the administrative support of cancer services, by providing a high standard or administrative assistance. They will liaise with the fast-track team to ensure all suspected cancer referrals (in addition to other referrals connected to the cancer waiting time targets) are captures on our patient database system. The post holder will then support the MDT Coordinators in managing the patient pathway from 1st seen appointment throughout.
Main duties of the job
To be comprehensive with the understanding of the Cancer Waiting Times targets and assist with monitoring patients' progress with an actual or potential diagnosis of Cancer against these targets.
To check daily reports ensuring all patients have OPAs and are within the 2WW target.
Tracking patients along their cancer journey, ensuring the correct point along the pathway is identified on our cancer database system.
To track low risk patients against their National Cancer Targets and collect complete and accurate Cancer Data sets for national reporting
Liaise with MDT Co-ordinator and ensure the 100% data capture and accuracy of information entered onto the database in line with local and Trust policy. This will include Cancer Waiting Times data and the Cancer Dataset
Collect all relevant clinical information relating to patients diagnosed with Cancer. This includes information required for clinical audits and national cancer registry reporting.
To liaise with the multi-disciplinary team, including colleagues from other providers to ensure pathway information is accurate.
Assist with the organisation of the MDT meetings by preparing complete and accurate records for discussion, gathering the relevant clinical data ensuring it is available for the meetings e.g. test results, x-rays, letters, etc.
Be responsible for post MDT clerical duties.
