An exciting opportunity for a qualified and highly motivated registered nurse to join the Intermediate Care team at Westwood park Community Hospital looking to develop their management skills and undertake a band 6 role within a busy intermediate care ward.
The post is to support the Ward Matron and existing Ward Sister in the development of the ward and delivery of excellent care to our patients.
The successful post holder will work as a dynamic, proactive and will have line management responsibility and would be expected to effectively manage people alongside training and clinical supervisory and flow.
An important aspect of the role will be promoting a positive, supportive working environment which values and supports staff. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential and this will need to be demonstrated on the interview.
You will need to have at least 2 years post registration experience, a teaching and assessing qualification and demonstrate a passion for working with older people.
Main duties of the job
The Sister/Charge nurse role will contribute to the operational management of a safe and quality service delivery at Westwood Park, management of workforce, budgetary oversight, patient experience, recruitment and retention of staff and effective patient management work flow.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate key leadership skills and evidence of professional development, as well as experience of working within the multi-disciplinary team to manage and facilitate, extremely complex discharge planning. Westwood Park is a busy 18 bedded in patient, intermediate care ward which manages mainly frail and older adults. Effective and efficient patient flow is essential and your role is to provide excellent nursing care and compassion in line with the rest of the team and promoting positive patient experience and outcomes.
The Community Hospitals are nurse led units and closely supported by Care of the Elderly Consultants from BTHFT, including the wider MDT of PT/OT and Social Workers, etc.
