Due to an expanding service an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bradford & Airedale Bowel Cancer Screening Centre for a SpecialistScreening Practitioner (SSP). The Centre is based at Bradford Royal Infirmary but the Practitioner will work across both Bradford and Airedalehospital Trusts.
The Centre offers bowel screening across the areas of Bradford, Airedale and Wharfedale.
The post holder will work autonomously to provide the highest standard of care and support for patients participating in the national Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
Main duties of the job
The role is varied and includes:
Pre-assessing patients in clinic;Counselling for individuals who have tested positive for FIT (Faecal Immunochemical Test) as part of the bowel screening programme;Attend colonoscopy procedures, entering data live into the National Bowel Cancer Screening System;Inform patient of their results which may include cancer diagnosis.Post holders will have responsibility for assessing, informing and supporting individuals throughout the screening pathway.

Applicants must be a registered health care professional (RN level 1) with a health related degree / working towards, or equivalent level of experience. The post-holder will have the ability to communicate sensitive and complex information, and have excellent IT and presentation skills.

The LJMU course will be fully funded by the trust following probationary period, if you were to resign from the post within two years of passing thiscourse, you would be required to refund the cost in line with the Trusts Study Leave policy.
Previous experience of working in screening, colorectal, gastroenterology, cancer or health promotion is desirable but not essential.
