Job summary
An exciting opportunity has come up at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to join our growing hand therapy team as a part time Band 6 Hand Therapist. The post gives the post holder the opportunity to work as part of an expanding specialist multidisciplinary Hand team including Orthopaedic Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, an Extended Scope Practitioner, Advanced Nursing Practitioners, Physician Associates, Nursing staff, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
Referrals are received from Orthopaedics, Plastics, AED, First Contact Practitioners and GPs.
The Team work as Hand Therapists bringing together the specialist techniques of occupational therapy and physiotherapy Each person on the team has achieved competency in splinting, exercise provision and wound care to improve hand and wrist dysfunction in patients referred to the service.
The team have weekly in-service training, clinical reasoning and regular formal supervision. There is also opportunity to complete external British Association of Hand Therapist courses and masters modules.

The post holder will be based within the hand therapy team in an out-patient setting at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of specialist hand therapy to support patients with hand and wrist dysfunction following acute injury, trauma and elective surgery and with long term hand conditions

To cover specialist out-patient clinics alongside Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery Consultants as well as support the hand therapy team.
To undertake advanced hand therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who have diverse presentations and complex hand and wrist conditions.
To hold responsibility for own caseload.
To undertake clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
To be responsible for service development within the hand therapy team.
To ensure knowledge and treatment interventions are current and evidence based.
