Job responsibilities

This is essentially an undergraduate medical teaching post, although the post holder will be expected to play a role in the wider education department and contribute to the development of both medical and clinical education in the Trust.

Teaching will be based in classroom, and clinical settings.

You will be expected to be able to deliver a wide range of clinical skills (e.g. history taking, clinical examination and deteriorating patient management).

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the assessment of learners e.g through OSCE examinations.

The post holder will ensure high quality learning environments for all disciplines within a context of multi-professional education and training that is responsive to future changes.

The post holder will work closely with local Universities to collaborate on projects, and they will have the chance to represent the Trust at regional meetings.

The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with the wider education department, and to maintain professional registration through scheduled clinical activity.

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience of Medical Education
• Applicant knowledge is up to date and is fit to practise safely with commitment for managing professional development
• Commitment to teaching and relevant teaching experience to Undergraduate medical students and/or Physician Associate students

Desirable

• Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
• Clinical governance / audit experience

• Practical skills in relation to the speciality
• Proven ability to work in different clinical settings
• Organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise and organise own workload
• Flexibility and adaptability
• Clear Communication Skills All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: - that applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or - have achieved the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application - Overall 7, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7. IELTS certificate to be presented at interview. If applicants believe they have adequate communication skills but do not fit into one of these examples they must provide supporting evidence

Knowledge

Essential

• Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
• Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
• Understanding of what the NHS Constitution means to you, and your responsibilities to the public, patients and colleagues.
• Relevant specialty clinical knowledge

Desirable

• Life Support Course Instructor Status

Qualifications

Essential

• MBBS / MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
• Current and full registration with the GMC
• Evidence of ARCP at FY2/ 2 years' experience in the NHS
• In-date Advanced Life Support Course

Desirable

• Recognised post graduate teaching qualification e.g. PGCE
