This is a key post in the provision of clerical and administrative support to the unit. Answering telephone enquiries, communicating with the ward team, patients and relatives and the ability to work on one's own initiative are all essential aspects of the role. The ward clerk is an important and integral part of the team and the post holder must have the ability to manage their workload efficiently and effectively.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a team player who can work efficiently and has good time management skills.

Ideally candidate would be familiar with the NHS computer systems and be computer literate.

Good communication skills.

Must have GCSE English and Math

Welcoming patients, families and visitors to the unit.

Answering the telephone and dealing with day to day enquiries

Preparing paperwork for patients undergoing surgery

Reception based work

Ordering supplies

Appointment making

Assisting Health Care Assistants when the ward is busy with non clinical duties.

Maintaining confidentiality at all times

The successful applicants will work as part of a team and be responsible for the provision of a high quality administrative service to the ward.

The role is for one post at 30 hours per week over 3 days, however, flexibility maybe required when the other Ward Clerk is on leave.
